Easy ways to get more social shares

We all want people to share our content far and wide. This helps bring people to our site, and once they’re there, hopefully they’ll sign up for our e-newsletter, donate, become a volunteer, sign up for an event, etc.

To do:

• Add a share button to your site. I personally recommend AddThis and Sumome.
• Add “click to tweet” buttons on tweetable facts and quotes.
• Add the “pin it” button to your page to make it easy to share images on Pinterest.
• Where appropriate, ask followers to share the content with others.

Advanced tip:

Add counters to your share button. This gives your content social proof. If people see that others have already shared the page, they’re more likely to share it too.
