Actionable Resources for Small Communications Teams

I have been in your shoes. For several years, I was the only person in charge of communications for a national organization. It can feel like you’re drowning at times. It can feel like you’re spinning your wheels and still not getting ahead.

I felt that way too, but I was tired. I was burnt out and didn’t want to keep feeling that way. So I took some time to figure out what was working and focus more on those strategies. I also found out what was not working, and I stopped those time-sucking habits.

At the end of it all, not only did I survive in that role, I thrived. I doubled our website visitors and e-newsletter subscribers. I created video stories. I engaged with our audience via social media. The difference was that I was focusing my time and energy on things I knew would work and let go of projects that didn’t make an impact.

Without a doubt, there was still a lot of work to be done. But with this new way of working I felt inspired, rejuvenated, and more excited than ever to continue the work. I knew that my precious time was spent on projects that truly made a difference.

Now, I want to share what I learned so you can feel rejuvenated too. You can thrive in your role, even if you are the only one managing your organization’s communications.

In this section you’ll find tips, tools, and trainings to help you improve your online communications. I know you don’t have endless amounts of time or financial resources, so I promise I will:

  • Share information that will be useful to small communications teams, and
  • Share actionable resources so you know exactly what steps you should take.
